the importance of words and charades!

There comes a time in your life when the playing of verbal charades
takes up an overwhelming amount of  time each day
Take today for example.
We are cooking for a party on Saturday
chatting as we chopped and rolled, stuffed and .......?

Gardening was the subject
Marg said " what are you going to plant along the path?"
Me.." you know the purple smelly thing"
Marg: "no which purple smelly thing, good or bad smell?'
Me: "the one you put under your pillow, you know the one that always reminds you of your Grandmother!...you know it's a colour!"
Marg: "Oh you think Lavender will be alright there?

                                                                                                                                                                   from Flickr
I thought you wanted pink?"
Me: "No the pink is going to go down the eastern side where its a bit cooler."
Marg: " what are you putting there?"
Me: "the mixed pink things that look like roses"
Marg: "Peonies don't grow here"
Me: "no not peonies,
the bulbs that come in all different colors...
but I only want the pink ones"
some moments of quiet reflection
while everyone tries to work out bulbs in different colours
Tulips? no, look like roses...Ohhh, they've got it....
RANUNCULUS

                                                                                                                                                             Image from here
The conversation did one of those amazing right hand turns
that you get when a group of women are working together
and suddenly we were talking about
what to put on the square white platter for that little special something.
After several suggestions
Me: "how about the red seeds just scattered on the edges?
The colour looks fabulous against the white"
HERE WE GO AGAIN...
"What red seed?"
"the fruit that starts with P"
"Persimmon?"
"No"
"Passionfruit?"
"They're yellow! The RED ones. You know with the horrible pith."

                                                                                                                         image from here
This is truly ridiculous
I can't find the word again
but I had to have it to find the photo...Didn't I?
Well... actually I have discovered
that if I type in fruit with red seed Google comes up with
POMEGRANATE

WORDS...WORDS....WORDS
COMMON EVERYDAY WORDS
JUST TOTALLY DISAPPEARING
and BAKED is the word I couldn't find at the beginning.

I NEED TO DEFRAG MY MIND.

goodnight

  1. Julienne you are so funny.... how often do I do this... My mother talks to me sometimes though and never finishes a sentence but I know what she means! And I now do this with my husband...Great weekend to you.
