Tonight I have been looking at floors
floors, floors and more floors!
We have a cottage we are renovating
(and have been renovating for some years)
...AND THEREBY HANGS A TALE!!!
Over the years we have renovated a fair few homes
but suddenly these last two were the
straws that broke the camels back
and we just don't seem able to finish either one!!
BUT...
to get back to floors.
I dislike,
WITH A PASSION,
carpet
SO.....
up came all the smelly old stuff.
Underneath were reasonable,
but not overly impressive, floorboards.
The problem is that at some stage in their life
some of these boards had been stained, some not!
AND...
the question is
do we sand?
do we paint?
OR
do we lime?
The trouble with liming
(Which is my favoured choice)
you don't really know what result
you are going to get until you have finished.
Mostly they are a cross of the two above
but one kitchen floor we did had
quite dark blue and pink tones
(I imagine that was caused by not quite gone old stains)
It was beautiful
BUT...
I don't want a whole house like that
most of these images are from http://www.beachstudios.co.uk
So more nights of looking at floors
and testing in the laundry.
I can always paint the laundry floor
in checkerboard
as we did in our shop
in the image below
Goodnight
