In the pink....

Today
 I am passionate about
 PINK

combined with
ORANGE

On their own,
they are colors that make my blood sing

 but...

put them together and I am in seventh heaven!!

What could you make with this silk?

Would it matter what the food was at this table?

I want these all over the house!!!

 the flowers here
could almost
 be prettier than the bride!!!!

Clearing sales!!!!!!!!

I.
Should.
Never.
Go.
To.
A.
Clearing.
Sale.

Did I buy the microwave?
The brand new dishwasher?
the thermos perhaps?
NO!!

I bought the bench

WHY?

 Because it has memories!

It was once the island bench in a kitchen
 that  belonged to family.
Then, with new owners, it was
 relegated to the shearing shed
 with this piece
alas this one is a fixture
 (in the shearing shed!!!)
and did not come up in the sale.
but I am trying to negotiate!
wish me luck.

because once upon a time,
 this incredibly beautiful man
 stood on the opposite side,
whilst meals were being prepared
AND IT SHOULD NOT BE IN A SHEARING SHED!

I believe ,
 both cupboards came from
 Country Trader Interiors
and this is how I think it should look

this is the style of the drawers

maybe too top heavy do you think?

But it has the spot for a food prep sink

Of course, there is a problem!
after years in the old shearing shed
there has been  damage to some of the boards.
but never fear
with 'Top' in charge
they should soon be fixed.

What do you think?

Was I foolish
to buy memories?

Word verification for the night
had a beautiful puppy  image that I
commented on wanting to bring home
but that my  puppies would not be happy
the WV was SPRIAZES
Surprises anyone?

Images me, Atlanta homesmag, and not sure of the others SORRY!

Goodnight

forgotten tastes

I wish you could feel this...
could smell this ....
and ohhhh
I really, really, wish you

could taste this...

If you could
 you would taste again
that wondrous thing,
 that is,
a tomato ripened on the vine,
then picked,
whilst the day's sun still warms the flesh

The texture firm, but giving,
the juice running down your arm,
and so delicious,
that you eat it like an apple

This roadside stall
 is where 'Tommie' hangs out
5 days a week
from February to May.

If you asked
 'Tommie' would tell you that
IT'S HARD SLOG
IT"S DIRTY
IT'S TIRING
and....
IT'S FUN!

So, if, on your travels
you should see the white truck
with the umbrella and the
gaily coloured tablecloths,
 covered in bags of tomatoes,
and the best tasting
 sauce, relish and pickles,
ask if you can taste one.

YOU WILL NOT WALK AWAY
WITH LESS THAN A BAG

A gentleman today
 ordered 8 cases
to take back to his family and friends
   BECAUSE....
They taste like old fashioned Italian tomatoes
 and he hasn't had those
since he arrived in Australia!!!!

'Tommie' says
Goodnight

Word verification for the night:
has  beautiful images of a well lit Eiffel Tower
and the letter were
KINGLIT!!!!!

Goodnight!

dreams versus reality

I was just about to toddle of to bed
when I foolishly took one more look at my
file of ideas...mistake!
I must say that I don't think
I have ever wanted this staircase
but it fascinates me no end
so I guess that makes it a dream...
Not necessarily one I want to come true...
but a dream none the less

Don't think I would like to try these after a dinner party

Of course if we ever have another staircase
the reality of it would be more like this

and this really encapsulates
both dream and reality because I love it!

(Just quietly I love the room as well, those red chairs are just magic!)

Now I am heading of to bed to sleep...perchance to
DREAM!!!!!

Goodnight

Pssst...Don't know where either of these came from so thank you to whoever ( should that be whomever?) and I promise to take note of where I grab my ideas in future

Goodnight again

an absurd observation!

Having sent a few comments
 over the last few days
I made this absolutely absurd observation
 of the word verification letters!!!

A comment mentioning my dislike of ironing... read
wohardr
does that look like workharder to you

a comment on how pretty something was got me
plesinly
that looks very much like pleasingly to me

Thanking someone for visiting me I got
uwlsme
now that looked like you  welcome

MAYBE BLOGGING IS SENDING ME MAD
BUT..
THERE WERE DOZENS
WHERE THE LETTERS
HAD A STRANGE FAMILIARITY
ABOUT THEM

SO......

if  I keep checking these out

I COULD BECOME THE COMMENT QUEEN OF BLOGGING

Goodnight

decisions, decisions, decisions!

As I get older making decisions gets harder and harder
Take this week
We still haven't decided
what to do about the floors in the cottage.
Not, because I don't know what I want
(White painted)
but as we are going to sell it
as soon as it is finished,
Are prospective buyers going to be put off by painted floors?
Would they prefer dark stained?

NEXT DECISION...

Do we reopen our "junk shop"?

OR.....

Do we fill the cottage full of bits
and open it one weekend a month?

It is some years since we were last opened
and rents in our town have more than tripled.
Why, when we have so many empty shops, completely mystifies me!

Not everything we had was older than me!

but a good deal of it was

This barber's chair now resides in an historic pub out west

The kauri pine desk only stayed here about a week
before it crept home (it still resides in one of the guest bedrooms!)

This piece only stayed a few weeks before it headed to Melbourne

The wedding gown walked down the aisle again
not long after this photo was taken!

and do I really want to sell these pieces?

What to do? what to do? what to do?

THAT IS THE QUESTION

Goodnight

floors, floors, floors!

Tonight I have been looking at floors
floors, floors and more floors!
We have a cottage we are renovating

(and have been renovating for some years)

...AND THEREBY HANGS A TALE!!!
Over the years we have renovated a fair few homes
but suddenly these last two were the
straws that broke the camels back
and we just don't seem able to finish either one!!

BUT...
to get back to floors.
 I dislike,
WITH A PASSION,
carpet
      SO.....
up came all the smelly old stuff.
 Underneath were reasonable,
 but not overly impressive, floorboards.
The problem is that at some stage in their life
some of these boards had been stained, some not!

AND...
the question is
do we sand?
do we paint?
OR
do we lime?

The trouble with liming
(Which is  my favoured choice)
you don't really know what result
you are going to get until you have finished.
Mostly they are a cross of the two above
but one kitchen floor we did had
quite dark blue and pink tones
(I imagine that was caused by not quite gone old stains)
It was beautiful
BUT...
I don't want a whole house like that

most of these images are from http://www.beachstudios.co.uk

So more nights of looking at floors
 and testing in the laundry.
I can always paint the laundry floor
 in checkerboard
as we did in our shop
in the image below

Goodnight

Amazing talent

A lovely young friend of mine named Georgia
takes the most amazing photographs of children and
I thought I would just share two of my favourites

her ability to get children relaxed and natural is fabulous
(these three children are of course beautiful and amazing anyway
and I'm not, no really I'm not, biased at all!!!)

Goodnight
