The Princess room....!

Oh dear where does time go?!
Late on Wednesday night we received a phone call
from a gentleman who wanted to know
if we would be interested in selling our house

yes!
yes!
yes!

so, today we started the big clean up and toss out!

They are coming to look in a fortnight so we have a bit of time
Top discovered we actually  have quite a large
back verandah
and I spent the day here
in the Princess room!

the girls call it the Princess room because of the
height of the bed
(you almost need a stepladder to climb up!)
and they feel we should put a pea under the mattress!

the pink curtains were, alas, inherited with the house
and to date we cannot afford to change them
(the quotes were quite, quite ridiculous!!!!)

The marble mantelpiece holds quite a bit of my
Don Quixote collection

The golf stick leaning nonchalantly against the fireplace
was an award for a hole in one
Not mine alas!
I am a total shocker when it comes to golf!!

the salon suite is the very first antique I ever bought
I was twelve years old and it cost me 12 pounds!
the light fitting hiding underneath will one day replace the rather nasty chandelier,
but tomorrow it will find a spot in the garage out of sight!

and the mirror needs to be taken out and painted
before it goes above the fireplace

all our ceilings are pressed metal and the patterns are quite beautiful
it also needs a bit of a clean but it's so far up I'm afraid
it will just have to do!
Tomorrow I take on the other two guest bedrooms!

Goodnight!

  2. When I was growing up our neighbor had a similar room and I used to love to spend the night in her princess bed. I thought it was so cool to step on a beautiful little stool to get up into the bed.

Looking forward to seeing your house room by room as yo prepare for the visit.

  3. Your home looks lovely! I've always loved those ceiling tiles! I hope you aren't sad to be leaving it...it doesn't sound that way so thats good! I've always wanted someone to knock on our door or call us and ask that very question! Good luck with the rest of your cleaning and packing!

The Princess bed looks so comfortable and snuggly, my girls would love it:) I love that you bought your first antique when you were 12 years old! I can't wait to see your other guest rooms, Julienne. ~ Txx

  5. Dearest Julienne,

You already showed lots of sales points... the ceilings are absolutely super and so are your door and high baseboards, your fireplace. So we hope for the very best and meanwhile in two weeks you will manage to do a lot; however it will turn out -- you still will feel great about it.

    Lots of love,

    Mariette

  9. How exciting Julienne! You didn't even have a 4-sale sign in your yard did you? Here our home has been on the market for 7 mos. and no offer yet. Sometimes, certain things are just meant to be. I love your Princess room, and I'm wishing you all the best for a good showing with this perspective buyer! Can't wait to hear what's next?

    xx Deb
