The hidden talents of a friend....!

I have a friend,
 one of those lovely friends
with whom you can talk about everything and nothing
One of those friends
that you don't need to see all the time
for them to still be a friend.
 We are not old friends,
 fairly new in fact,
and are still getting to know things about each other.
Recently she and her husband called in
and he mentioned that Mandy painted!
We hadn't talked about this and I was fascinated
so this weekend I was at her home and asked to see her paintings.
"I paint faces" she said
I don't quite know what I expected
but this is what she does
and I am in absolute awe of her amazing talent!

I want this one!

(Mandy the line has gone!!!)

what character

Oh Frieda!

And this one!
 reminds me of Mandy!

I am sorry my photography does not do these justice!

At the end I found a few more and Mandy said
"I tried water colours here"

TRIED!!!!!!

Top is the Chairman of our regional Arts Board
my Mother was a painter and I dally in the field
without a huge degree of success!
so it is rather exciting to find such a talent
and to be able to share this find.
I hope you agree with me

Mandy you are a star.

Goodnight

  6. I was astonished, really. I haven't painted anything real in months, and it makes me remember that I still have to continue my painting career.

  11. Loved your comment over @ The Hedge Julienne, it gave me a big laugh! I do love technical, nerdy stuff, but your info. left me spinning! For someone who can't even colour in between the lines, I'm in total awe of Mandy's talent.

  14. Hello Julienne,

    Greetings from Scotland.

I found your blog by random and have enjoyed a look around.

These are beautiful paintings. I particularly loved the movement in the 2nd watercolour here. The artist is very talented. I also liked the restored toy box a few posts back. It must have been a frustrating but salutory lesson to have made a mistake like that on the first attempt. It has ended up as a striking piece though.

I'll come back again when I have a bit more time.

    regards.......Al

  19. Julienne! WOW These works of art of just fabulous. There are paintings and then there is art, where someone pushes the envelope just far enough to make it a museum quality piece, and your friend has done it. Thank you also for coming to visit my blog and you must visit the blog from which I took that image of those pink satin shoes!

This is Gorgeous is the name...you can either click on the link I provided or Google it.
